Elevate your Space with Art
ELEVATE YOUR SPACE WITH ART
Art is one of the most important elements for any design. It can make a dull, flat space feel vibrant and alive! When designing for sale or designing in general, having art can make your space feel personalized and special. When you choose art it’s usually something you love! Maybe it’s a memory, a trip, or something that just catches your eye, and you must have it! You may not think these various unrelated art pieces could go together in a design, but here are a few tips and tricks to make your favorite art pieces work in your space!
In “One Week to Sell” S1E10 “Bridging the Style Gap”, I focused on having a big emphasis on art all around. With a tight budget and limited time, we took matters into our own hands and made all the art ourselves! My goal was to have the art feel collected which would give the space a more personalized and homier feel. To do this, we made a variety of art pieces in different mediums, colors, and styles. I wanted all the art pieces to feel like they could stand on their own but together they tell a traveled story!
To make all the art different but still have a relationship with each other, I chose to keep some of the art neutral using only black, white, and browns. The rest of the art would be vibrant with color! Finding/making mismatch colored art might sound tricky. The key for success is to find/make art pieces that have a common color or tone. This automatically makes the art feel connected even though they are separate pieces.
When I design, I like to pick a very strong color story that translates into each space. Determining what colors are in your space will help you know what colors you should bring in with art. If you want to add in a color that is not already in your space, you definitely can! All you need to do it introduce that color into your accessories!
If this design taught you anything, it’s to not be afraid of color or to mismatch your art!
We’d love to see how you transformed your space with art that’s special to you! #thetaylortouchDIY
