TAYLOR SPELLMAN

CEO and Creative Director
Taylor Spellman is one of New York City’s most successful, accomplished and charismatic real estate interior architecture designers.  By the age of 23, she had founded her own firm, Taylor Spellman New York, becoming a specialist in interior design for top commercial, residential and new development properties throughout the Northeast.  Taylor has continued to excel in the industry, gaining traction as an accomplished interior designer and stager. Her extensive portfolio includes projects at top New York City properties and countless suburban homes in Connecticut, New Jersey and the Hamptons.

Taylor attributes her successes to a childhood spent in the performing arts, which earned her a position in the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at Fordham University.  What started as a side hustle working with real estate agents to upgrade cringe worthy bachelor pads, evolved into the interior design and staging firm it is today.  Taylor's study of dance, along with her lifelong dedication to art, has grown her ability to trust her instincts, follow her gut and extract a story. She is unwilling to follow the tenets of the old guard of design - make it neutral and everyone will like it - because that simply is not true.  No two humans, or homes, are alike and each is worthy of careful consideration in its transformation.

When she’s not designing or starring in “One Week to Sell” on HGTV, Taylor resides in both New York City and Connecticut with her husband and daughter. Her favorite ways to unwind are writing and sketching in her journal paired with a full-bodied glass of red wine.

MAGGIE MCDOWELL

Design Director

Maggie is a multi-talented creative and Taylor Spellman New York's Lead Design Director.

Like Taylor, Maggie also started in the performing arts. She moved to NYC after getting a degree in Musical Theater from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and spent her first decade in the city performing on Broadway until the industry wide shut down in 2020.

During this pause, Maggie revisited her lifelong love of design through a series of furniture flips, DIY home renovations, and turning trash into treasure, many of which went viral on social media. It was kismet that when she was branching out beyond her own home she connected with Taylor.

She attributes her rise in the interior design world to her experience in show business which requires hustle, resilience and unique creativity to make it to the most revered stages in the world, which she did.

At TSNY, her artistic talents go beyond the stage with original artwork, strong insticts, and out of the box solutions. Her outgoing personality and love for people creates a connection with our clientele that helps to tell their story in their own home or to sell to the ideal buyer. When she’s not at an installation telling Taylor, “No problem...I can make that” she is managing each project with enthusiasm and perhaps too many exclamation points in an email.

A native of CT, Maggie resides in the Bronx with her husband and son. When she’s not at her desk you will probably find her at the local thrift store finding a hidden gem.
